Procedure
Laminate
veneers are conservative of tooth structure.Typically only about 0.5
mm. of facial. reduction is needed,because this is confined to the
enamel layer,local anesthesia is not usually required.
Indications for porcelain laminate veneers
1.
Multiple discolored teeth.
2.
Multiple teeth with enamel defects and unsatis factory tooth color.
3.
Multiple teeth with spacing and unsatisfactory tooth color.
4.
Multiple worn or foreshortened teeth.
5.
Multiple misaligned teeth and satisfactory tooth color.
6.
Teeth with generalized facial discoloration from amalgam shine-through.
Temporization
Temporization
is not usually needed because thermal shock and color or contour changes
are minimal with veneer preparation.In some cases white filling material
can used for temporization.
Cementation or fixation
The
porcelain laminate veneer is made of high-strength ceramics and it
is fixed to the enamel of the tooth with resin cement.The resin cements
are very strong because of chemical bonding between the porcelain
and enamel. They have several translacent shades,several ozgue shades,and
appropriate color-modifying tints to achieve optimal veneer coloring.
